Hi,
Just returned from Krabi this morning. It was really a fantastic trip. I had my first snorkelling and kayaking experiences in this trip. For people who are interested in going to Krabi, try kayaking through the mangrove forest and do snorkelling at some of the coral reefs. Don't worry if you are not a strong swimmer.
Just remember to wear your life jacket before you jumped into the water. I am not a strong swimmer, and I underestimated the depth of the water when I did the first snorkelling. I went into the water without the life jacket and nearly got drowned. I really scared the hell out of my husband.
I will tidy my photos first before I post them.
Hi soul4travel,
No problem with the change in title. Agree with you. It is more specific this way.

Hi soul4travel,
Don't worry too much about the traffic in this forum. I believe it will become more popular in future. Beginning is always the toughest. Yeap, I went there by Tiger Airways. The fares is SDG237 per head. But I think if you book online yourself, you can save SDG30. We did through agency and they charge us SDG30 extra for each person.
We asked for Vogue Prannang Bay and enjoyed our stay there. But if you are fussy about the food, then don't choose this hotel. We stayed there 5 days and we had the same things for breakfast everyday. On top of that, the choice of food for breakfast is also limited. But if you like a quiet and scenic place to relax yourself. This is a wonderful hotel. We spent about SDG1370 for the air tickets, one day city tour and accomodation.
I will try to post more pictures. I am facing problem downloading pictures from the other memory card I have. I hope it is not corrupted.

Questions about Krabi
I'm planning to head there in Dec. Need help with a couple of questions:

1. Is Tiger Airways the only airline flying directly there?
2. Tiger Airways flies to Phi Phi Island, but I will be staying in the mainland. Is there transfers available?

Any comments will certainly help!!

ya the airport is quite a distance from the krabi jetty. also most boats to phi phi leave from ao nang jetty instead, again some 20-25km from krabi town. in short

airport-krabi town-ao nang-phi phi

from airport-krabi town, there is lack of budget options, probably need to book a car or something. good luck!

not a problem, i'm not actually going to phi phi.. i'm staying at Sofitel Phokeethra Krabi at Klong Muang Beach.

BTW, are there any 'must visit' location?

Thanks for your help!

I remember flying by Tiger Air there, but I don't think they do that anymore. Not sure which other airline flies direct there.

Krabi itself is a small town, there's a small stretch of pubs and a promenade area where they have hawkers selling food at night, but other than that, nothing much else. Most people go on to Ao Nang or Rai Leh by bus, or to Phi Phi by ferry. Rai Leh is famous for rock climbing, while Ao Nang, and Phi Phi, for sun sand and sea. Plenty of resorts and backpacker joints at these places to choose from. Good alternative to Phuket. But still pretty commercialised though.

fly to phuket 120$ 1way, airasia then bus or ferry to krabi.
krabi is very touristy. if u looking for quiet place, try the outer islands like ko lanta, ko mok, ko lipe, and avoid phi phi. all can be reached by ferry from phuket.

i went to phuket, phiphi, lanta, ko mok. lanta and ko mok was nice. run out of baht, went back to mainland then bus to penang. else u can island hoping all the way from phuket to lankawi. ferry between each island 1-2hr ride ~ 300-500baht. room/hut with WC abt 200~1200baht without/with AC. lanta is cheap, ko mok mid range, phiphi is expensive and noisy.

This is ko mok..

I am going to Krabi this coming Nov, planning just only sea, sand and beach for relax.  :'(

I planned to stay in Ao Nang then in morning, take boat to other islands such as ko lanta, ko mok, ko lipe. Is it possible ?

I would like to ask few questions :

- Can I take the taxi from airport directly to Ao Nang or need to chang to ferry ?

- Is it crowded there in Ao Nang in Nov ?

- Any hotel recommended ?

Thanks in advance.

Both have their own less crowded spots, if you try to search.

Only Phuket is more commercial, while some parts of Krabi is more secluded and laid-back.
Some Krabi beaches are an isolated enclave surrounded by hills, accessible only by boat.
Krabi is more associated with Xtreme sports, what with real rock climbing right at the doorstep
at some of these enclaves and good snorkelling and diving right offshore.

Phuket is more for beach fun and partying, with Patong beach as Thai's Kuta beach equivalent.
The others are quieter but dominated by families.

I think Krabi will suit you more Phuket.
I stayed in Koh Lanta Island (Krabi) and it was very nice and quiet  :hello2:
