Overland : Cambodia/Thailand/Laos/Vietnam
« on: Aug 18, 13, 06:06 AM »
Hi guys,

I am planning a trip in Sept - Oct to travel through the cambodia/thailand/laos/vietnam circuit by land and was wondering if there are any exit fees for any of the borders for a Singaporean passport.

I have never heard of a "exit fee". Some airports do impose a departure tax, but these days that is incorporated into the air ticket prices. I have never been asked to pay on departure whenever I am crossing by land.

Ok thanks!

Because I have heard of people paying a $20 exit fee at the cambodian/thai border irregardless of nationality. Not sure how true this is.

So safe to say, if I am travelling over land to these countries, I can basically pass through for free right (so long as I don't overstay)?

Yes. I do believe with a SGan passport you can pass through for free.
I wasn't asked to pay any extra $ when crossing border between the Indo-China countries.
As for other nationalities, it depends.
I saw Aussies/Americans having to apply for visa when doing the Cambodia-Vietnam
overland crossing.

Yep, I just needed to confirm from a Singaporean since most of the information that you find online applies to the people from US or UK. Also, I have heard of cases where tourists are scammed into paying more than they need to.

Thanks a lot!

I never paid any "fees" going through poipet to Thailand. But that wad 2010. In those days I could buy a Cambodian driver license
