Indonesia : My Bali Trip Oct 2010
« on: Nov 11, 10, 01:30 PM »
Just sharing some foto of my Bali trip recently. I guess due to my poor trip planning, I didn't really cover much places.

KUTA
Warung's Made ~ Nasi Campur Special : it was but at 55K Rp, i felt it isn't cheap. I got sate, tempe, long beans, ?bamboo shoot?, beef, babi, fish, prawn, tofu ... bits here n there. quite well done.

The balinese are pretty opem eh? :P I guess these stuff can never be sold openly in Singapore or Malaysia

Kuta Beach ~ god knows why they are standing back to back each other .... ! :)

Football @ Kuta Beach

ahhhh ... modern development in the background, didn't like that at all  ::)

fugu anyone? hehehehehe  ;D

oh yes, u can find water buffalo in Kuta

Some blessing ceremony @ Kuta.

There are many small small pura all over the place @ kuta. But it isn't easy to find a nice one to photograph

BANGLI
Tasting Kopi Luwak @ Bangli must have been one of my highlight. But the real problem here is that they never use filter or pressurized water to make the kopi. just kopi powder stirred into hot water ~ it end up tasting real muddy and, imho, lacking in flavor & aroma ~ what a pity!

Kopi Luwak Beans

Kopi Luwak along with sampler (lemon grass tea, bali kopi, ginger tea etc)

Civet cat ~ proud & bored producer of poo kopi  ;D

BOTANICAL PAGE
BANGLI
Vanilla Orchid. I haven't seen the flower before, and what a pity, I just missed them. here you see 2 flowers are "kissing" each other to facilitate pollination. This has to be done manually by the hand, yes and that's really alot of labor work just to get them produce vanilla pods. of coz the works don't end there, the pod must got thru more labor work to attain the final product.

another interesting unidentified plant, the young leaves are color RED. it seems to exists around highland area only as I haven't seen any around lower lying area like kuta, Tanah lot, uluwatu.

GITGIT
Clove trees grow in abundance around Gitgit area. Here you see a flower clove bud which doesn't exhibit any strong aroma. It is only after sun drying that the distinct aroma starts to showup

FOOD PAGE
TEGALALANG @ Restuarant along Tegalalang Rice terrace

TEGALALANG @ Nasi Goreng is not bad! The sate is skewed on lemon grass stalk which gives a nice lemony scent & taste.

UBUD @ Dirty Duck Diner ~ Crispy Duck - it was ok lah but the shallot condiment (not clearly shown in the pic) is very shiok!

UBUD @ Dirty Duck Diner ~ Dark Chocolate cake is awesome. soft, moist with very chocolatey taste ... luv much!

UBUD @ Ibu Oka ~ Babi guling - tastewise is good. though I still can't consider that exceptional. prefer our peking duck here. :P

KUTA @ made's Warung - Thick & healthy Avocado juice is niccccceee. I think i just got hooked but I guess I can make myself at home easily

there are some more street food, but I guess that's enuff.
