like where? russia's far east?
-
Got no idea how to go there though. Have a feeling that place is not easy to travel in. Unless u know? Maybe sticking to somewhere more well visited, cos haven't got time and wanna enjoy instead of worrying abt safety
-
There is a great element of luck involved if you want to catch the aurora. Half my friends who visited came away disappointed.

If you decided to travel to Norway, then Lofoten Islands is a better place to view the Northern Light compared to Tromso.
In Lofoten you don't have to travel out since the area is light-pollution free and there are water/mountain/ship/fisherman's cabin to be used as your subject.
In Tromso, there will be light pollution you you will miss out on some lights. People usually join Light-chasing tour.

Hi,
I am interested too. Can you PM me ? I dunno how is budget. I think can fly from Taiwan to Alaska. Someone told me have to go Fairbanks.
I already started tracking aurora activities since around mid this year.... NOAA spaceweather etc

What's the estimated cost and duration?
-
i seriously haven't done any research cos too occupied with other things, but I think off the top of my head the ticket is already 1.6k so maybe 5k (i hope, I heard many things about how ridiculously expensive everything is)
duration: 2.5 weeks. the trip there and back is already 2 days
-
I edited the first post and changed the dates

Reine is lovely. I spent 4 nights there and 11 nights in Tromso. In the end, in Reine manage to see Northern Light in the comfort of the fisherman's cabin through the window in 3 of the 4 nights. In Tromso only saw 2 nights, marred by the light-polluted sky. In the end, regretted spending so many days in Tromso, and should have stayed in Lofoten instead.
